StayLapland husky tours 2026–2027: every husky ride we run

StayLapland Kuoksa Wilderness Park Husky & Snowmobile combo activity

Every autumn the same question lands in our inbox: which husky tour should we book? The honest answer is that it depends on how much time you have, whether you want to drive the sled yourself, and who is travelling with you. So instead of a sales pitch, here is the full list of husky tours StayLapland runs for the 2026–2027 season, with what each one actually includes.

Our main husky trail runs through the Kuoksajärvi forest, where the kennel team behind the Kuoksa Husky Park organises the dog sledding with us from November until April. We also sell a short family ride at Lapland Winter Park and, before the snow arrives, kennel visits where the dogs pull a cart instead of a sled.

The short answer: our core winter tour is the Nulkki Husky Adventure — a 5 km self-driven husky sleigh ride, 4 hours in total with pick-up, from 189 €. If you want something shorter and gentler, Arctic Paws is a guide-driven ride of about 2 km at Lapland Winter Park from 59 €. If you want huskies plus reindeer or a snowmobile in one day, choose one of our combos (from 299 €), and if you want the trail to yourselves, the Private Nulkki Husky Adventure is from 1390 €.

The Nulkki Husky Adventure: our core 5 km self-driven tour

The Nulkki Husky Adventure is the tour most of our guests choose. You drive your own sled for 5 km through the Kuoksajärvi forest, after an experienced musher has shown you how to mush the dogs safely. The whole tour takes about 4 hours, including transfers, and is graded easy.

Photos are taken with your own device. Between 1 December and 10 January, drop-offs are included only to selected locations: Postmaster Hotel, Rovaniemi City Centre, the Ollerovaara area and Santa Claus Village.

Arctic Paws: a 2 km guide-driven ride at Lapland Winter Park

Arctic Paws is the gentlest way to meet our dogs. It is a guide-driven husky sleigh ride of about 2 km — roughly ten minutes on the sled — at Lapland Winter Park, Ollerovaarantie 160. You sit back in a traditional sleigh, and afterwards there is time to meet the dogs and take photos. Each sleigh usually takes 2–4 guests, depending on weight and conditions, and our guides make the final call on seating.

Two things to know before booking: Arctic Paws has no pick-up or drop-off, and it does not include thermal clothing. The time on your ticket is the meeting time at the husky location; the ride itself starts within 0–40 minutes of it, confirmed on site. It is priced from 59 € and can be booked until 15 minutes before the start.

Huskies plus reindeer or a snowmobile: our combo days

If you want to do more than one thing in a day, our combo tours put the same 5 km self-driven husky ride together with another activity:

All three include winter clothing and pick-up and drop-off within 10 km of Rovaniemi city centre.

The private tour: the Nulkki trail for your group only

The Private Nulkki Husky Adventure follows the same 5 km self-driven format but only your group is on the tour. It is priced from 1390 €, lasts 4 hours and includes winter clothing (overalls, boots, gloves and socks), local snacks and drinks by the campfire in a teepee, and pick-up and drop-off within 10 km of the city centre. Note that its cancellation terms differ from our shared tours: cancellation is free up to 7 days before, after which the full price is charged. You will find it with our other private activities.

Before the snow: kennel visits with a cart ride

Huskies train all year, and before there is enough snow for sleds they pull carts. We sell three kennel experiences for that period, each with an informative talk about huskies and hot juice and cookies:

These run on the kennel’s own terms: for animal welfare the cart ride only happens when it is cold enough for the dogs (the product pages state the limits), transfers are from the listed pick-up points, and the cancellation policy is different from our winter tours. Check the dates shown on each product page, as they change with the season and the snow.

Who should choose which tour

Book the Nulkki Husky Adventure if you want to drive the sled yourself and have half a day. Choose Arctic Paws instead if you are travelling with small children, have little time, or are already spending the day at Lapland Winter Park — but bring your own warm clothing. Choose a combo if this is your one big activity day, and the private tour if you want the trail and the guide to yourselves.

For the Kuoksa tours, the small print is the same: they are not suitable for children under 3, children under 13 must be accompanied by adults paying the full price, and none of our husky tours are wheelchair or stroller accessible. If you are unsure, email us before you book and we will tell you honestly which tour fits.

Weather, minimum numbers and cancellation

Huskies love cold, but there are limits for people. On the Nulkki tour and our husky & snowmobile combo, the temperature limit is −35 °C, and −25 °C for small children. In bad weather, for safety, the husky ride can be arranged as a shortened guide-driven experience, and a tour may be cancelled or rescheduled in extreme conditions.

Please also note that the site-wide early-booking discount does not apply to husky and reindeer tours.

Combining a husky tour with your stay

If you are staying at Postmaster Hotel or Aurora Hill Resort, both are on the pick-up list for our Kuoksa husky tours, so the day starts at your door. A morning husky tour leaves the evening free for a Northern Lights tour — ask us when booking and we will help you fit the two together.
