What happens during the five hours

Once everyone is dressed for the cold, your guide leads you through Santa Claus Village and tells you its story along the way. We keep the route flexible, because a four-year-old and a teenager notice very different things — but the highlights stay the same:

• Meeting Father Christmas himself. This is the moment most families come for, and it is included in the tour.
• Snail mail. The village is home to Santa’s Main Post Office, so think in advance about who you would like to send a card to — or even a card to your future self.
• Animals. Near the end of the experience there is an opportunity to meet, and potentially touch, some animals.
• Lunch. A local lunch is included, served in what the tour page cheerfully calls “the funny traditional Finnish way”.

Photos are taken with your own device, so bring a charged phone or camera. Cold drains batteries quickly, and a spare in an inside pocket helps.

We designed this tour first and foremost for families with children. The recommended minimum age is 3 years, because winter conditions can be too harsh for infants. There is no maximum age — grandparents are very welcome. Please note the tour is not wheelchair or stroller accessible.

• At least 2 people are needed for the tour to run on weekdays and Saturdays.
• At least 4 people are needed on Sundays and public holidays.
