Many of the guests who spend Christmas with us in Rovaniemi arrive late on a dark December afternoon, after a long journey, with children who have been waiting for this trip for months. The last thing anyone wants at that point is to go looking for a tree and decorations in a town they do not know yet. What they want is to open the door and find that Christmas is already there.
That is the idea behind our Christmas holiday package in Lapland. We offer it in two sizes, and this article is about the bigger one, Santa’s Christmas Package. Below we explain exactly what we prepare, what is included and what is not, where it fits best, how it combines with a Santa visit or a reindeer sleigh ride, and when our lighter Elf’s package is the more sensible choice.
In short: Santa’s Christmas Package costs from 699 € and means your accommodation is decorated for a traditional Finnish Christmas before you arrive. It includes a decorated Christmas tree, LED candles, festive textiles and details, glögi bar supplies, red wine and Finnish Christmas snacks. It is a room set-up, not a guided tour, so there is no start time or duration: it is simply waiting for you when you walk in.

What Santa’s Christmas Package is
Our product page describes it as “a premium festive experience that brings the warmth and charm of a traditional Finnish Christmas into your accommodation”, decorated “with elegant seasonal details”. In practice that means we dress the room for Christmas so that you do not have to think about it at all.
This is our fullest Christmas set-up. Where the smaller package keeps things deliberately minimal, Santa’s Christmas Package adds festive textiles and details that change the feel of the whole room, and a bottle of red wine for the adults next to the glögi supplies and snacks.
Because everything is prepared inside your own room or cabin, the package works whatever else you do during your stay. You can spend the short December daylight outside on a tour, come back in the early darkness and have a quiet Christmas evening without having organised anything yourself.
Exactly what is included, and what is not
This is the complete list as it appears on the product page. We prefer to be precise rather than promise more than we deliver:

A few honest notes. The candles are LED candles, not real flames, which is the right choice in a hotel room or a wooden cabin. The product page does not list the exact contents of the glögi bar or the snacks, so if you have a preference, need an alcohol-free option for the whole family, or have allergies or dietary needs, tell us when you book and we will tell you what is possible.
What is not included: the accommodation itself, meals, transport, activities and a visit from Santa Claus. Those are booked separately, and we explain further down how they fit together.
Where we set it up: Postmaster Hotel and Aurora Hill Resort
The photos on the product page show Santa’s Christmas Package set up in two of our own places, so these are its natural homes. If you are staying somewhere else, please ask us before booking so we can confirm whether we can prepare your room.
Postmaster Hotel is our historic hotel in the heart of Rovaniemi, right next to the railway and bus station. Its rooms and suites range from the Superior Twin Suite to the 35 m² Family Suite for up to five guests, and there is a Deluxe Sauna Suite with its own sauna. Downstairs, Leima Kitchen & Bar serves breakfast, lunch and Lappish–Finnish bistro dishes, and has a cosy lounge bar. A decorated suite in the town centre means you can walk out into Christmas Rovaniemi in the evening and come back to your own tree.
Aurora Hill Resort is our family-owned resort of handcrafted cabins, the highest located resort in Rovaniemi and about 10 minutes from the city centre. Breakfast is included and delivered daily to your cabin, and guests have free access to the Northern Lights Alert App, which can notify you when the aurora appears over the resort. The Aurora Sky Suite has a double bed under a glass roof, and the Aurora Family Suite, our largest cabin at 31 m², sleeps up to four. A fully dressed Christmas cabin up on the hill is a very different mood from the town-centre hotel, and many families love exactly that.
A Finnish Christmas evening in your room
Glögi is the warm, spiced Christmas drink you will smell at every Finnish Christmas market, and having everything for it in the room is at the heart of this package. Add candlelight, a tree in the corner, festive textiles and a plate of Finnish Christmas snacks, and an ordinary evening in turns into a small Christmas ritual.
In Lapland in December the days are short and the evenings long, so a lot of the Christmas atmosphere happens indoors. After a day outside in the cold, a room that already feels like Christmas is one of the simplest things that makes a trip feel special. The red wine in this package is for the adults; the glögi supplies and snacks are for everyone.
If you are travelling with children, the package sets the scene for the biggest moment of all: meeting Santa Claus. That part we arrange separately, as you will see below.

Santa’s or Elf’s: which of our two packages fits you
We run two Christmas packages, and the difference between them is mostly how fully decorated you want the room to be.
- Santa’s Christmas Package, from 699 €: decorated Christmas tree, LED candles, festive textiles and details, glögi bar supplies, red wine and Finnish Christmas snacks.
- Elf’s Christmas Package, from 399 €: decorated Christmas tree, minimal festive elements, LED candles, glögi bar supplies and Finnish Christmas snacks, with no red wine.
If you want a cosy, understated Christmas corner, the Elf’s package does that well, and we explain it in detail in our Elf’s Christmas Package article. If you want the whole room dressed for Christmas and a bottle of red on the table, Santa’s is the one.
Adding Santa Claus and a reindeer sleigh ride
The Christmas packages do not include Santa, but three of our Santa Claus experiences fit naturally around them:
- Private Santa’s Surprise visit, from 199 €, 15 minutes: Santa comes to your room, shares festive greetings, reads a short Christmas story or poem, and poses for photos. You can hand him your own gifts beforehand so he can give them to the children. It is available only to guests staying at Postmaster Hotel or Aurora Hill Resort, and only guests staying in the booked room can take part. In a room already decorated with Santa’s Christmas Package, this is the moment the whole set-up is made for.
- Magical Private Santa Visit, from 249 €, 1.5 hours: your personal Santa’s Elf picks you up and takes the family to Santa’s Secret Hide-out for a 30-minute private meeting, with warm berry juice, cookies and a gift for each child. Pick-up and drop-off within 10 km of Rovaniemi city centre are included.
- Private Reindeer Sleigh Ride & Santa Visit, from 990 €, 2.5 hours: a Santa’s Elf picks you up and accompanies your family to the reindeer farm for a sleigh ride of about 1 km through the snowy forest, then to a private Lappish kota where Santa Claus is waiting for a 30-minute private meeting, with warm berry juice, cookies and a special gift for each child.

Timing, booking and the small print
Santa’s Christmas Package is booked through the booking button on this page or on the product page, just like our tours. Some details are not spelled out on the product page, and we do not want to guess them for you:
- Dates: the product page does not publish a fixed period. Check the calendar in the booking window, or ask us which dates are possible for your stay.
- Price: it is shown as “from 699 €”; the booking window shows the final price for your selection.
- Cancellation: the product page does not state a separate cancellation policy for the package, so please ask us when booking. The Santa experiences above each have their own terms: free cancellation up to 7 days before, with a 100% fee if cancelled 7 days or less before.
- Your accommodation: tell us where and when you are staying, so we can confirm the room is prepared before you arrive.

Book Santa’s Christmas Package if you are spending the festive season with us, you want the whole room to feel like a traditional Finnish Christmas the moment you arrive, and you like the idea of glögi, snacks and a bottle of red wine waiting for you without any effort on your part.
Choose the Elf’s Christmas Package instead if you would rather have a simpler, more minimal set-up and do not need the textiles or the wine. Choose a Santa experience instead, or as well, if what matters most is that the children meet Santa Claus: the packages set the scene, but Santa comes separately.
