Every autumn the same question starts arriving in our inbox and on WhatsApp: what exactly does StayLapland run over Christmas? Families plan this trip carefully, and they want to know which parts of the holiday we can take care of and which they need to arrange themselves.
This article is our answer for Christmas 2026. It lists the Christmas products we sell for the holiday season, how they differ, what is included in each one, and the rules that matter most during the busiest weeks of our year. Every price and detail below comes from our own product pages, so if something changes, the product page is always the final word.
In short: for Christmas 2026 we offer two Christmas packages that decorate your accommodation before you arrive, the Elf’s Christmas Package from 399 € and the Santa’s Christmas Package from 699 €, plus four Santa experiences: the Private Santa’s Surprise visit in your room (from 199 €, 15 minutes), the Magical Private Santa Visit (from 249 €, 1.5 hours), the Private Reindeer Sleigh Ride & Santa Visit (from 990 €, 2.5 hours) and our guided Santa Claus Village Tour (from 169 €, 5 hours). Our husky, reindeer, snowmobile and Northern Lights tours run alongside them; you can browse all our activities in Rovaniemi.

Our Christmas programme in one view
We think of Christmas at StayLapland in three layers. You can use one, two or all three.
- Your room: the Elf’s Christmas Package or the Santa’s Christmas Package, so the Christmas atmosphere is waiting when you open the door.
- Meeting Santa: in your own room (Private Santa’s Surprise visit), at Santa’s Secret Hide-out (Magical Private Santa Visit), after a reindeer sleigh ride (Private Reindeer Sleigh Ride & Santa Visit) or as part of a guided family day (Santa Claus Village Tour).
- Everything else Lapland does in winter: huskies, reindeer, snowmobiles and Northern Lights, for example the Nulkki Husky Adventure.
The Christmas packages and the in-room Santa visit are built around our own accommodation. The other Santa experiences include pick-up, so they work wherever you stay within the pick-up area described on each product page.
Christmas in your room: the two Christmas packages
Both packages mean the same thing in practice: we prepare your accommodation with Christmas decorations before you arrive. They are not tours, so there is no start time or duration. The difference is how much we bring.
Elf’s Christmas Package, from 399 €. Our lighter set-up. Included: a decorated Christmas tree, minimal festive elements, LED candles, glögi bar supplies and Finnish Christmas snacks.
Santa’s Christmas Package, from 699 €. Our premium set-up, described on the product page as bringing “the warmth and charm of a traditional Finnish Christmas into your accommodation”. Included: a decorated Christmas tree, LED candles, festive textiles and details, glögi bar supplies, red wine and Finnish Christmas snacks.
The photos on the product page show Santa’s Christmas Package set up at our Postmaster Hotel and at Aurora Hill Resort. If you are staying somewhere else, please ask us before booking so we can confirm whether we can prepare your room. Meeting Santa: four ways we arrange it
Each of these is booked separately. None of them is included in the Christmas packages.
- Private Santa’s Surprise visit, from 199 €, 15 minutes. Santa comes to your hotel room, shares festive greetings, reads a short Christmas story or poem and poses for photos. You can give him your own gifts beforehand so he can hand them to your children. It is available only to guests staying at Postmaster Hotel or Aurora Hill Resort, and only guests staying in the booked room can take part.
- Magical Private Santa Visit, from 249 €, 1.5 hours. A personal Santa’s Elf picks your family up and stays with you from pick-up to drop-off. At Santa’s Secret Hide-out you have an exclusive 30-minute private meeting with Santa Claus, with warm berry juice and cookies, and each child receives a special gift.
- Private Reindeer Sleigh Ride & Santa Visit, from 990 €, 2.5 hours. Your Santa’s Elf takes you to the reindeer farm for a sleigh ride of about 1 km through the snowy forest, then to a private Lappish kota where Santa is waiting for a 30-minute meeting. Berry juice, cookies and a gift for each child are included.
- Santa Claus Village Tour, from 169 €, 5 hours. A guided family day at Santa Claus Village with meeting Santa Claus himself, a local lunch, winter clothing for adults and children, and the chance near the end to meet and possibly touch some animals.

What is included in the Santa experiences, and what is not
The details differ between products, so here is what each product page lists:
- Pick-up and drop-off: included within 10 km of Rovaniemi city centre for the Magical Private Santa Visit, the Private Reindeer Sleigh Ride & Santa Visit and the Santa Claus Village Tour. The Private Santa’s Surprise visit happens in your room, so there is no transfer.
- Gifts: a special gift from Santa for each child on the Magical Private Santa Visit and the reindeer sleigh ride visit. On the in-room visit, the gifts are the ones you give Santa in advance.
- Food and drink: warm berry juice and cookies on both private Santa visits; a local lunch on the Santa Claus Village Tour.
- Winter clothing: included on the Santa Claus Village Tour (overalls, boots and gloves in adult and child sizes). The private Santa visits do not list winter clothing, so dress warmly or look at our winter clothing rental.
- Photos: on the Santa Claus Village Tour and the sleigh ride visit you take photos with your own device.
None of these experiences is wheelchair or stroller accessible, according to their product pages, except the in-room Santa visit, which is listed as accessible for everyone.
The small print that matters in the holiday weeks
Christmas is when our minimums and cut-offs matter most, so please read these before you book:
- Minimum group size: the Magical Private Santa Visit and the Santa Claus Village Tour need at least 2 people on weekdays and Saturdays and at least 4 people on Sundays and public holidays. Several of our husky and combination tours have the same rule.
- Children: on these tours, children under 13 must be accompanied by adults paying the full price.
- Pick-up: please be ready in your hotel lobby 10 minutes before your pick-up time.
- Cut-offs: 12 hours before start for both private Santa visits outside your room, 1 day before for the in-room visit and 4 hours before for the Santa Claus Village Tour.
- Cancellation: the three private Santa experiences have free cancellation until 7 days before; after that the fee is 100%. The Santa Claus Village Tour charges 15% if cancelled 15 days or less before, and the remaining amount becomes non-refundable 24 hours before the tour.
- Weather: if conditions do not allow a sleigh ride, the reindeer part of the Private Reindeer Sleigh Ride & Santa Visit is arranged as a reindeer walk instead.
- Husky drop-offs over the holidays: on our Nulkki Husky Adventure, drop-offs between 1 December and 10 January are included only to selected locations: Postmaster Hotel, Rovaniemi City Centre, the Ollerovaara area and Santa Claus Village.
Timing, availability and the EARLY27 code
We do not publish a fixed Christmas timetable in this article, because departures and availability are set in our booking system. The booking calendar on each product page shows the dates and times that are open. If a departure is already closed or sold out, or you are booking for a larger group, write to us and we will try to arrange a departure for you.
For the winter season as a whole, see our winter 2026–2027 opening dates. Our current site-wide offer is 10% off winter activities booked with the code EARLY27, valid 01.11.2026–31.03.2027; husky and reindeer tours are excluded. If you are not sure whether the code applies to a particular Christmas product, ask us when booking.
Our services are also available as gift cards, which some families use to give a Santa visit or a tour as a Christmas present.
Which combination we usually suggest
We are not going to tell you what your Christmas should look like, but these are the combinations we see working well:
- You are staying with us and want a quiet, private Christmas: a Christmas package in the room plus the Private Santa’s Surprise visit. Nobody has to leave the room.
- You want Santa to be a real outing: the Magical Private Santa Visit, or the Private Reindeer Sleigh Ride & Santa Visit if the sleigh ride is on your wish list.
- You want a full day and a first look at Santa Claus Village with a guide: the Santa Claus Village Tour, with winter clothing and lunch included.
Book the Christmas packages if you are staying at Postmaster Hotel or Aurora Hill Resort and want Christmas ready on arrival. Choose a Santa visit instead if your accommodation is elsewhere and we cannot confirm a room set-up, or if meeting Santa matters more to you than the decorations.
