When families write to us about Aurora Hill Resort, the question is nearly always the same: which cabin gives us enough room to sleep, eat and dry wet mittens without climbing over each other? Our answer is the Aurora Family Suite, the largest cabin in the resort and the only one with a separate bedroom.
This article walks through the suite the way we would show it to you on arrival: the layout, what is included in your stay, how the Northern Lights alerts work, and how families usually pair a few nights here with a gentle first husky ride at Lapland Winter Park.
In short: the Aurora Family Suite at Aurora Hill Resort is a 31 m² cabin for 1–4 guests with a separate bedroom, bathroom, WC and kitchenette. Daily breakfast delivered to your cabin, free parking, Wi-Fi and the Northern Lights Alert App are included. For the youngest travellers, our Arctic Paws family husky ride at Lapland Winter Park starts from 59 € and is an approximately 10-minute, guide-driven sleigh ride of about 2 km.

The Aurora Family Suite is 31 m², which makes it the most generous of our four cabin types at Aurora Hill. For comparison, the Aurora Suite is 23 m² and the Aurora Sky Suite and Aurora Suite Plus are 25 m² each; all four are listed on our Aurora Hill Resort page.
- 31 m² for 1–4 guests
- A separate bedroom, so parents and children (or two couples) can keep different bedtimes
- Two beds plus an extra sleeping place for two on a large sofa bed
- Bathroom, WC and kitchenette
- Underfloor heating, bed linen, towels, extra pillows and blankets
If you are travelling as a larger group than four, the suite is not the right fit on its own — contact us and we will look at combining cabins.

What is included in your stay
We keep the list short and concrete. According to the suite page, every stay in the Aurora Family Suite includes:
- Daily breakfast made with fresh, carefully chosen ingredients and delivered to your cabin — no need to dress the children for a walk to a breakfast room
- Free parking
- Wi-Fi
- The Northern Lights Alert App (more on that below)
Arrival is by easy self check-in, which means a smooth, contactless arrival even if your flight lands late. If you need anything during the stay, the team at Hotel Postmaster looks after Aurora Hill guests, and the resort reception answers on +358 40 501 0660.
A kitchenette that works for families
A kitchenette matters more with children than most people expect: warm milk at six in the morning, a snack between activities, a simple dinner when everybody is too tired to go out again. The suite page lists the equipment, and it is a proper small kitchen rather than a kettle on a shelf:
- Stove and stovetop, pans and pots
- Microwave, coffee maker and electric kettle
- Refrigerator
- Dishes and cutlery
Basic essentials, cleaning equipment, a hair dryer, TV, shampoo and body soap are also in the cabin. For safety there is a smoke alarm, a carbon monoxide alarm, a first aid kit and a fire extinguisher.
Northern Lights from the doorstep
Aurora Hill is the highest located resort in Rovaniemi and about 10 km from the city centre. Away from the town lights, the surroundings offer quiet, clean Arctic air and, in our view, one of the best places to watch for the Northern Lights — right outside your cabin.
What makes the difference with children is the Northern Lights Alert App, included free for your stay. It sends real-time notifications when the Northern Lights appear at the resort, and you can set the alert sensitivity to Low, Medium or High. Many parents put the children to bed, set the alert, and only step out when the sky is actually doing something.
The Northern Lights can never be promised on a given night. If you want to understand the season and how we plan our aurora tours, read Northern Lights season 2026–2027 in Rovaniemi: our tours explained and our guide to aurora hunting in Rovaniemi.

A family business, built by hand
Aurora Hill began with a single cabin, handcrafted by a grandfather who believed that nature should be shared, not conquered. His children grew up under the northern lights, and today the next generation welcomes guests to the resort. The suites combine Nordic design with warm touches of Lapland tradition, and the Family Suite is where that shows most: room to spread out, wood and warmth, and a view that changes with the weather.
We mention this because it explains how the resort runs. It is small, family-owned and quiet by design. If you are looking for a busy holiday village with entertainment on site, Aurora Hill is not that; if you want space and calm between activities, it is.
Our first husky ride for families: Arctic Paws
Lapland Winter Park is in the nearby area, and it is where we run Arctic Paws — 2 km Family-Friendly Husky Ride at Lapland Winter Park. It is our gentlest husky experience and the one we suggest to families staying in the suite.
- An approximately 10-minute, guide-driven husky sleigh ride of about 2 km — you sit, the guide drives
- Each sleigh usually takes 2–4 guests, depending on weight and conditions; the guide makes the final decision on seating
- After the ride there is time to meet the dogs and take photos
- Professional English-speaking guide
The small print, straight from the product page: the ride takes place at Lapland Winter Park, Ollerovaarantie 160, 96100 Rovaniemi. There is no pick-up or drop-off, and thermal clothing is not included. The time on your ticket is the meeting time at the husky location; the exact ride start is confirmed on site and may vary within 0–40 minutes from the meeting time. Bookings close 15 minutes before the start. It is not wheelchair or stroller accessible. Cancellation is free up to 24 hours before the activity; after that the fee is 100%.
You can see everything else we run at the park on our Lapland Winter Park activities page.
Sauna and jacuzzi at the resort
After a cold day, the Private Traditional Finnish Sauna & Jacuzzi at Aurora Hill Resort is booked from 159 € for 1 hour 30 minutes. It follows the old Finnish way: there is no shower — water is heated in a tank on the electric stove, mixed with cold water, and you wash by pouring it over yourself with a ladle. You also have the private jacuzzi, so you can move between sauna, jacuzzi and snow.
Bathrobes and slippers, towels, seat covers, soft drinks and water, and a small lounge area are included.
Book the suite if… choose another cabin if…
Book the Aurora Family Suite if you are three or four people, you want a door between the adults’ and children’s sleep, and you will use the kitchenette. Choose the Aurora Sky Suite if a double bed under a glass roof matters more to you than a separate bedroom (it sleeps 2–3). Choose the Aurora Suite if you are two and want the most compact option.
From the resort, pick-up and drop-off to the activities in our private Kuoksa Wilderness Park run straight from Aurora Hill; the full list of what we run is on our activities in Rovaniemi page. If you are planning winter activities other than husky and reindeer tours, have a look at how our EARLY27 book-early code works.
