Reindeer Stories originates from a town 200 kilometers North East of Rovaniemi, called Savukoski. The founder of Reindeer Stories, Jouni Savukoski, is originally from this area and reindeer herding and way of life has been passed down through generations in their family. Jouni’s grandfather was a Chief of District in the Kemin-Sompio Reindeer Herding Cooperative.
To be able to support the traditional livelihood of reindeer husbandry in modern times, Jouni started training more of his reindeer to be able to share the traditional way of life with visitors through reindeer sleigh rides.
Most of the reindeer are herding out in the forest throughout the year, but our trained working reindeer are in Kuoksajärvi.

Markku
4- year old handsome boy, who was raised with the family and bottle-fed. He got separated from his mother at an early age. Markku is used to the human touch and has a fun way of “cuddling” humans, by rubbing his antlers against you. Comfy, sure!
