Guests who look at our cabins at Aurora Hill Resort often ask the same thing: what is the difference between the Aurora Suite and the Aurora Suite Plus, and which one fits us? This article answers that for the Plus, using only what is on our own cabin page, so you know exactly what you are booking.
Aurora Hill is our family-owned resort on the highest resort area in Rovaniemi, about 10 km from the city centre. The Aurora Suite Plus is the cabin we built for people who want a little more room than a couple’s suite: a main double bed, a sofa bed, a bathroom and a kitchenette, for up to three guests.
Short answer: the Aurora Suite Plus is a 25 m² one-room cabin at Aurora Hill Resort for 1–3 guests, with 2 beds plus an extra bed (a double bed and a sofa bed), bathroom, WC and kitchenette. Prices start from 299 €, and breakfast, free parking, Wi-Fi and our Northern Lights Alert App are included. You can add our Private Traditional Finnish Sauna & Jacuzzi use at Aurora Hill Resort (from 159 €, 1 hour 30 minutes), which you can book straight from this page.

What the Aurora Suite Plus is
The Aurora Suite Plus is a single-room cabin of 25 m². Inside you will find a double bed and a sofa bed, which is why we describe it as ideal for 2–3 guests: a couple, two friends, or a couple travelling with one child. There is a bathroom with WC and a kitchenette, so the cabin works as a small self-contained base rather than just a bedroom.
The cabin was built by a local family-owned company and combines Lappish wood and handcraft with a modern Scandinavian interior. That is also the story of the resort itself: it began with a single cabin built by hand, and today the family’s next generation welcomes guests. You can read that story on our Aurora Hill Resort page.

How it fits among our Aurora Hill cabins
We have four cabin types at Aurora Hill Resort. Here is how the figures on our resort page line up, so you can see where the Plus sits:
- Aurora Suite – 23 m², 1–2 guests, 2 beds, bathroom, WC, kitchenette.
- Aurora Suite Plus – 25 m², 1–3 guests, 2 beds + extra bed, bathroom, WC, kitchenette.
- Aurora Sky Suite – 25 m², 1–3 guests, a double bed under a glass roof for Northern Lights viewing plus a sofa bed.
- Aurora Family Suite – 31 m², 1–4 guests, a separate bedroom, 2 beds + a large sofa bed for 2.
In practice: if you are two people, the Aurora Suite is our couple’s cabin. If you are three, or two who simply want a sofa and a bit more floor space, the Plus is the natural choice. If sleeping under a glass roof is the point of your trip, look at the Sky Suite, and if you are four, the Family Suite is the one with a separate bedroom.
What is included in your stay
These services are listed as included on the Aurora Suite Plus page:
- Daily breakfast made with fresh, carefully chosen ingredients
- Free parking
- Wi-Fi
- The Northern Lights Alert App
The cabin amenities on the same page include bed linen and towels, underfloor heating, a TV, a hair dryer, shampoo and body soap, extra pillows and blankets, and the sofa bed. The kitchenette has a stove and stovetop, a microwave, a refrigerator, a coffee maker, an electric kettle, pots, pans, dishes and cutlery. For safety there is a smoke alarm, a carbon monoxide alarm, a first aid kit and a fire extinguisher.
Arrival works with a self check-in system, so the arrival is contactless. If you need help at any point, our team at Hotel Postmaster is available to assist you.
The Northern Lights from the hill
Aurora Hill is the highest located resort in Rovaniemi, and our resort page describes it as offering some of the best chances to see the Northern Lights. We cannot promise auroras on a given night – nobody honestly can – so we give every guest free access to the Northern Lights Alert App for the stay.
The app sends real-time notifications when the Northern Lights appear at the resort, and you can set the alert sensitivity to Low, Medium or High. Set it high and you will not miss a display even while you sleep. If you want to understand what drives a good night, our articles on aurora hunting in Rovaniemi and the Northern Lights season 2026–2027 explain it.

Private sauna and jacuzzi at the resort
The add-on we suggest for an Aurora Hill stay is our Private Traditional Finnish Sauna & Jacuzzi use. It follows the old Finnish way: there is no shower. Instead, water is heated in a tank on the electric stove and mixed with cold water, and you wash by pouring it over yourself with a ladle, as generations of Finns have done. You also have a private jacuzzi, so you can move between sauna, jacuzzi and the snow outside.
It lasts 1 hour 30 minutes and is priced from 159 €. Bathrobes and slippers, towels, seat covers, soft drinks and water and a small lounge area are included, together with private use of the sauna and the jacuzzi. Please check the dates in the booking calendar below; if you have a question about timing around your stay, ask us when booking.
Location: Kuoksa, Lapland Winter Park and the city
The resort is about 10 km from Rovaniemi city centre. Our activities – reindeer and husky rides, snowmobiling, Northern Lights tours and arctic saunas – run in StayLapland’s private activity destination, Kuoksa Wilderness Park, and our resort page states that pick-up and drop-off for these come straight from the resort. You can browse them all under activities in Rovaniemi.
Lapland Winter Park is a stone’s throw away. That is where families find Rovaniemi’s longest sledding hill and ice karting, which makes the Plus a practical base when one of your three guests is a child.
Book this cabin if… / choose another one if…
Book the Aurora Suite Plus if you are up to three people, you like having a kitchenette for evening tea and snacks, and you want breakfast and the aurora alerts sorted without thinking about it. It is also a good fit for two people who want more space than our couple’s suite.
Choose the Aurora Sky Suite instead if a glass roof above the bed is the reason for your trip, and the Aurora Family Suite if you are four or want a separate bedroom. If you would rather be in the city centre, our Postmaster Hotel is the alternative.
Making a short break of it
A simple way to plan two or three nights: one evening for the private sauna and jacuzzi, one evening on a Northern Lights tour with pick-up from the resort, and a day for Kuoksa or Lapland Winter Park. On quiet evenings the alert app does the watching for you.
If you are travelling in winter 2026–2027, our EARLY27 book-early code applies to many activities; the exact terms are in the booking card on this page. For a relaxed evening in the cabin itself, some guests also add our Deluxe “Do it yourself” – Spa Experience; ask us when booking whether it can be delivered to your cabin on your dates.
