What is the best time to travel to Rovaniemi?

The best time to visit depends on the experience you’re seeking.

For a snowy landscape, visit between December and mid-March. Snowfall can start as early as late September, but it’s unpredictable and may melt before returning.

For the most festive, Christmas-like atmosphere, December is ideal. However, it’s also the busiest month, so booking activities and restaurants in advance is highly recommended. Some activities sell out months ahead.

For a serene winter setting with minimal crowds and the best chance to enjoy the Arctic silence, visit between early January and late March.

For warm weather, blooming landscapes, water activities, and the midnight sun, plan your trip between mid-May and early August.

For breathtaking autumn colors, known as “ruska,” with endless orange and yellow foliage, visit between September and early November.

Activities

Can I book activities at your hotel?

We have a service point of StayLapland in our hotel during commercial hours and, outside commercial hours our reception is happy to assist you with reservations. StayLapland available activities can be found at our website.

Can I see the Northern Lights from the hotel?

The Northern Lights are unpredictable due to their dependence on several factors, including solar activity, geomagnetic storms, and local weather conditions. The auroras are caused by solar winds interacting with Earth’s magnetosphere, and while solar cycles and storm forecasts can give some indication, predicting the exact timing, intensity, and location of the lights is still a challenge. Additionally, cloud cover and light pollution can obstruct visibility, making their appearance even more uncertain. Having that said, if the activity is strong enough and the sky is clear, it may be possible to visualize from the hotel location despite the light pollution. To enhance your chances of seeing the Northern Lights, we strongly recommend joining a Northern Lights Hunting activity.

How far is Santa Claus Village to the hotel and how can I get there?

The hotel is located in the city center which is approximately 10km from Santa Claus Village.

You can easily get there by different bus lines (Santa Bus, Line 8 and Airport Express) that you can take from the railway station parking lot, which is located only 5 minutes walk from our hotel.
